What keeps more women from getting into golf? and how do we encourage them?

Every time i go to play golf, i’m always surprised by disproportionate amount of women and men on the course. I’ve played many other sports, as a kid and as an adult, but none of them are as disbalanced in terms of gender of their players as golf. Although i don’t understand why. It’s certainly not the physical limitation, because golf requires practicing and experience more than raw strength. Plus, it’s a perfect sport to play in groups, so couples or families should be playing it together. But reality is wildly different, and i did a little bit of research to satisfy my curiosity and find out why.

First and biggest reason is probably the peer pressure. Or father pressure for that matter. Fathers who like to play golf usually take their sons with them and buy them all sorts of new golf gear, but same doesn’t apply to the girls. I’ve read some stories on this topic and found out that even if they express interest in playing golf, girls are disregarded by their parents and generally they are not taken seriously. Of course, this does not apply to all men. In my research, if you can call it that, i’ve found a lot of instances of husbands getting their wives into golf and frequently playing together. And i think that’s great for everyone involved – i, personally, could play golf all day if i could. But i have responsibilities and have to find time to be with my wife, so mixing my wife and golf time would be killing two birds with one stone. I am currently in process of getting my wife interested in golf. I’m doing my best, but she just doesn’t find it interesting. I’ve not given up just yet though, which means i haven’t lost.

Another big reason for why women don’t play golf is the amenities. It might sound strange, but if you think about, women spend way more time on maintaining their hygiene than men do. Plus, there are not many toilets on most golf courses, which is kind of okay for guys, but not for women. There are also other minor issues that i won’t get into, but i think i summed up my opinion well.

Anyway, i think getting girls and young women interested in golf is the best strategy to encourage inclusiveness of women in the sport. Once they find out how interesting and competitive it is, they’ll become the evangelists of golf to their friends and so on. I think that’s the best way to get women into golf, although i don’t think it’s a foolproof plan.

does playing golf help lose weight?

I’ve been overweight, sometimes severely, while other times slightly, for the past twelve years.

And i’ve been playing golf for the past seven years, so i think i’m pretty qualified to be discussing this. So following my description, you probably realize that playing golf alone won’t help you lose weight, but if you put some effort into it, it can be great catalyst. In fact, i think most of the golfers i know are not physically fit, because of high involvement of golf carts in transportation around the golf course. I personally prefer to walk around, and have for a while now, but it still hasn’t made me lose weight, until i decided to put some real effort into it. I think losing weight, and generally getting in shape, comes down to you. If within you, you decide to get into good shape and start treating your body responsibly, and have the same realization that i did, you can certainly lose weight no matter what. But there science to it as well.

In order to lose weight by playing golf, you need to commit to walking and get good walking golf shoes for your feet. Walking is very good cardio, and doing good cardios are the best way to trim your fat, but they’re not enough. Your callories input should be significantly less than your output, the energy you burn. And that process forces your body to start burning fats, so it can make up for the lacking energy. Personally, i wasn’t counting calories. I just made sure to walk around a lot, and stick to eating fruits and veggies, as much as i wanted. Giving up the carbs such as bread and other baked goods has really turned the tides for me. Before i couldn’t get my weight to drop, but after a few weeks, i could notice remarkable progress. Golf swing and playng itself is not really an effective way to lose weight, but it can certainly lead to that effect. And having well designed golf clubs, with proper weight disposition, can certainly help in training important muscles of your body.If you truly want to lose weight though, i would recommend going to the gym and running on eliptical machines, and sometimes switch to  stationary bicycles. Both are fantastic machines to burn fat, and i’m saying that based on my experience. I also had some help from the supplements, which are supposedly the catalysts for burning fat, but i doubt they had any real effect. I think hard work and paying attention to what you eat is all it matters when it comes to losing weight.

My new golf club – TaylorMade R15 review

I was a bit hesitant about spending almost three hundred dollars on single golf club, but it’s a driver, so i went along with the purchase. Plus, i have been playing golf for three years at that point, and i have gotten bored with my old, very basic club set. I wanted to try something new, and i allowed myself to make this purchase. Driver can make or break the club set, and choosing wrong driver can ruin your game. My shipment of brand new golf driver arrived three days later, i opened it up and went to try it out on a golf course. Upgrading to using TaylorMade R15 was like learning to fly. I never realized how much my basic club sets held me back until i started using this awesome golf club. And i could never go back, so i started shopping for new putter and iron sets as well, but let’s save that story for another post.

But new golf driver, or any other clubs for that matter, won’t improve your golf scores, if you don’t know how to swing properly, and other basics. I think the best way to gain perfect mastery of these things, is by actually getting your hands dirty and playing on the course. If you are a beginner, i would recommend getting started with affordable club sets by Callaway.

I’ve since made a lot of friends on golf course, and got to use a lot of high quality golf clubs over the years. But none of the drivers came close to my R15 driver in terms of quality. And looking at some drivers on the market right now, two hundred dollar price tag doesn’t seem that high anymore. Weight anchoring system on this driver is near to perfection. Certainly better than any other golf drivers i’ve tried during my trials on the golf course. I spend dozens of hours on golf course every month, and investment of two hundred dollars in a club, that can last me three or four years, is totally worth it. It is around fifty dollars of investment in my entertainment per year, which is way less than some people spend on DVDs and going to movies. Yet, some people complain about how expensive golf is. I would rather pay few hundred dollars at once, and be free to play for the rest of the time, than paying up to thousand dollars over the course of the year. Well, you still have to pay for tee time, but those costs are miniscule in comparison to what golf equipment costs. So i guess what i’m trying to say, is, that if you’re looking for a driver, TaylorMade r15 is very good option. It’s good gift for someone who’s been playing golf for a while, and needs replacement for their current driver.

Finest way to cook chicken breasts – sharing my family recipe

Until now, I have never been asked to write about grilling boneless, skinless chicken breasts, likely since they’re just not as enticing as sour ribs along with a juicy rare steak with a caramelized crust. And even though pulled pork and ribs are more my specialization, the truth is that most of my friends (and most people in general) grill more chicken breasts than they can do pork shoulder or even steak. It’s simple to see why: Chicken breasts do not need much prep, they cook fast, and they are relatively healthy. Yet they can be a little boring and all too often turn out dry, and that explains why my friends are constantly asking me the way to grill chicken breasts so they turn out flavorful and succulent. Keep reading to find out about my favourite procedures, try the corresponding recipes, and then discover just how good broiled chicken breasts can be.

Soaking chicken at a sausage not only promotes flavor but also helps to keep the chicken moist. Though it penetrates just about 1/4-inch deep, that’s a fantastic amount on a chicken breastfeeding, and sufficient to make that initial bite feel much more succulent. In the marinade at left, the acid in the buttermilk tenderizes the chicken when adding its own tangy flavor. When there’s a great deal of acid present, the chicken breast feeding doesn’t need to marinate for much time to reap the advantages. In reality, if left too long, then the acid may break down the meat a great deal, making it appear shinier. A finish of barbecue sauce, as in the recipe in left, leads to your juicy belief, too.

This may sound obvious, but one way to maintain a chicken breast from drying out would be not to overcook it. Pounding the breast feeding thin means the meat will be finished shortly after it reaches the heat. And even if it was to wash out a little, the dryness wouldn’t be as noticeable in a thin bite, particularly one paired with a salad of hot tomatoes, refreshing sodas, and a creamy yogurt dressing.

If you grill skin-on chicken, then the skin protects the meat from the heat whilst also basting it with fat. On a trip to Oaxaca, Mexico, where lettuce is really a cooking staple, I watched how a coating of mayo could work similarly. Bonus: The mayonnaise also distributes tastes, such as these Mexican-inspired ones. It is possible to experiment with adding different tastes to plain mayo, including rosemary and mustard or capers and parsley.
